Assistant Professor (Part-time)

Cecilia Pagliantini

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Cecilia Pagliantini is assistant professor in the Centre for Analysis, Scientific Computing and Applications (CASA) in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. She obtained her MSc in Mathematical Modelling in Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. She then received her PhD from the Seminar for Applied Mathematics of ETH Zurich, Switzerland in 2016. In the Fall of 2015, she spent a semester at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China. From 2017 until 2020 she held postdoctoral positions in the T-5 Applied Mathematics and Plasma Physics group at Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA, and at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland. She joined TU/e in 2020. Her research focuses on the development, analysis and implementation of numerical methods for differential equations. In particular, she works on numerical discretizations and model order reduction able to yield approximate models possessing the same geometric structures and physical properties of the original models.  She is also interested in robust numerical methods and efficient solvers for fluid and kinetic plasma physics, and for problems arising in computational electromagnetism.
