Emira Visser received her bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven in 2016, after which she continued with her Master of Science in the same field. During her master she graduated in the field of Chemical Biology in the group of prof. dr. ir. Luc Brunsveld and dr. Christian Ottmann. In this research, the stabilization of two proteins, important for metabolic disease, was analyzed and small molecule stabilizers were discovered using molecular docking approaches. Hereafter she joined the group of dr. Seth Masters at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Melbourne, Australia. Here she investigated the role of bile acid derivatives in autoinflammatory disease. In 2019 she started her PhD at the TU/e in collaboration with The Netherlands Cancer Insititute (NKI-AVL) in Amsterdam under supervision of prof.dr.ir Luc Brunsveld and prof.dr. Wilbert Zwart.
