RESEARCH PROFILE

Eric Berkers is senior researcher at the Foundation for the History of Technology (SHT), based at Eindhoven University of Technology. He graduated as an economic and social historian, with specializations in business history and the history of technology. He participated in research projects about the History of Technology in the Netherlands in the 19th and 20th century (TIN 19 and TIN 20) and the history of Dutch Business in the 20th century (BINT). Within the latter his focus was on innovations in small and medium sized firms. In 2002 he received his PhD at Delft University of Technology for research on Dutch Water Management. Next to several publications on this subject he published about the development of knowledge-infrastructure at different domains such as energy, geodesy, horticulture, food and healthcare. He recently published a book about the history of software in the Netherlands and is now involved in a research project about sustainable urban mobility.
