Research Profile

Estefanía Serral is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her key areas of expertise include pervasive ubiquitous computing, business process management, IoT, Model-driven Development and Semantic Web. Estefanía carries out research on topics such as business process management, ubiquitous business processes, context-adaptive systems, and smart learning environments. Her main research interests are:  a) Model-Driven Development, Models at Runtime, Runtime Evolution at Modeling Level  b) Ubiquitous Computing, Context-Adaptive Systems, Context-Aware Systems’ Verification, Context-Aware Petri Nets  c) Semantic Web, Context Semantic Modeling and Management

Academic Background

Estefanía Serral completed her PhD in Computer science in 2011 at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). She also holds an MSc in Software Engineering, Formal Methods and Information Systems (2008) and a BSc in Computer science (2006) from the same university. She has worked as a Senior Researcher at Universitat Politècnica de València and as a postdoc researcher at Technische Universität Wien.  Besides her work at TU/e, Estefania is  a postdoc researcher at KU Leuven (Belgium). From 2012 to 2014, she led the Semantic Knowledge Representation and Integration research group at the CDL-Lab in the Technical University of Vienna (Austria). Before, she worked in the ProS Research Center at the Technical University of Valencia (Spain), where she designed a novel method for developing ubiquitous systems using Model-Driven Development (MDD) and Semantic Web technologies. Estefanía regularly contributes to high-ranking conferences and journals, such as CAiSE, ER, UIC, PMC, ESWA, SOSYM, MTAP.
