Fang Ou is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Here, she is working on the development of miniaturized near-infrared spectral sensors. Her focus is on developing chemometric analysis algorithms and measurement protocols for these sensors in a portfolio of application cases. The sensors’ low cost, portability, and robustness make them suitable for a wide range of in-field materials sensing applications, from agri-food to pharmaceutics.
Scientific research leading to technological developments is a great tool for democratization. Just imagine the possibilities if the public can harness the power of Spectroscopy.
Fang Ou holds a PhD degree in Physics from the University of Auckland (UoA) in New Zealand (NZ). Her doctoral research was multidisciplinary and involved the development of a spectroscopic system for the detection of microorganisms. She has previously worked at the UoA, the Dodd Walls Center for Photonic and Quantum Technologies and the Office of the NZ Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor. In January 2020, Fang joined the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as a postdoctoral researcher in the Photonics and Semiconductor Nanophysics group of the Applied Physics department.
