Full Professor (Part-time)

Hans Zwart

RESEARCH PROFILE

Hans Zwart is a Full Professor at the Dynamics and Control group of the Mechanical Engineering Department and Chair of Dynamics and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research interests cover control and analysis of systems described by partial differential equation and/or time difference differential equations. His focus is primarily on the development and analysis of controllers for linear systems, using mathematical techniques from functional analysis and Hamiltonian dynamics. His expertise further covers partial differential equations, hilbert space, observability, transfer functions and dirac structures

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

The main area of application of his research is in the controller design and analysis of flexible structures. He has a long lasting collaboration around this topic with research groups in Besançon, Lyon, Wuppertal, and EindhovenIn addition to his work at TU/e, Hans Zwart is Professor in Physical Systems and Control, and head of the Chair Hybrid Systems in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente.

Hans is also the co-author of two standard works in his field; An Introduction to Infinite-Dimensional Systems Theory, (with R. Curtain) and Linear Port-Hamiltonian Systems on Infinite-Dimensional Spaces (with B. Jacob) which is currently in the process of being updated
