RESEARCH PROFILE

Herman Wijshoff is a Full Professor in the section Energy Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Chair of Fluid Dynamics of Inkjet Printing.

Herman has been involved in the University’s inkjet research program since 1997. He has focussed primarily on the modeling of the functional behavior of inkjet printheads and the inkjet process. This research program is carried out in close cooperation with the University of Twente in Enschede. The collaboration involves more than ten academic research groups s from the faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics and Mathematics at the Netherlands three main Universities of Technology. Acquired knowledge about inkjet printing is not only used in graphic printing but also in 3D printing and other industrial applications.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Herman Wijshoff studied Applied Physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where he completed his traineeship at the Plasma and Materials Processing group. In 1986, he received his MSc in Physics on the behavior of two dimensional electron gases at semiconductor heterojunctions. In that same year, he joined the Research and Development department of Océ Technologies B.V. in Venlo, the Netherlands. The main focus was on materials research, especially the viscoelastic behavior of polymers and elastomers. He received his PhD from the University of Twente in 2008.
