RESEARCH PROFILE

Jo van Ham has worked in the field of education all of his career. At TU/e, as Vice President of the Executive Board, he is committed to providing the university with a firm, healthy financial base and enable fruitful investments in research, education, laboratories and facilities. As the success of the university lies in its people, he instigates and supports initiatives to connect academic staff, students and supporting staff, and to establish a good dialogue, based on partnership and triggered by the motto “where people matter”. A particular aspect of his work is creating the development of the TU/e campus as a true inner city campus. Next to this it is his ambition to link TU/e with the Brainport Eindhoven Region, the Province of Noord-Brabant and the ministries in The Hague.
Jo van Ham's responsibilities as Vice President of the Executive Board are Governance; Finance; Organization and Management of the departments; HRM; Campus and Accommodation; ICT and Information Strategy; Communication; Safety and Security; Internal Affairs; Start up policy; Technical Services; Integrity; Sports Facilities; Student Events and Student Associations.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Jo van Ham studied law at Radboud University (Nijmegen, the Netherlands). Prior to joining TU/e, he held a number of managerial positions at the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. 
From 2000 to 2005, he was Director of Primary Education. He then became Director of Higher Education and Study Financing, and in 2006 he was appointed Deputy Director-General of Higher Education, Vocational Education, Scientific and Vocational Education, Scientific Policy, and Emancipation. In 2008, he was appointed Vice President of the Executive Board at TU/e. Jo van Ham holds a number of ancillary positions, such as member of the Committee Dutch Technology Week; chairman of the Supervisory Board of Academic Transfer (career platform); member of the Supervisory Board of TU/e Holding; member of the Advisory Board of Eindhoven Academy; member of the Board of Braventure (Noord-Brabant's start up organisation) and member of the Supervisory Board of Eindhoven Marketing (Eindhoven365 and Eindhoven247).
