KeesFlipse is Associate Professor in the Molecular Materials and Nanosystems group.His research interests are electronic structure effects and the magnetic behavior of graphene and other 2D-layered materials, spin selectivity effects in chiral thin films and quantum fluid behavior in high-Tc superconductors and graphene. Flipse is part of the European TAILSPIN consortium, aiming to use graphene to develop a spin-polarized switching quantum device. The project is based on his finding that hydrogeneted graphene shows ferromagnetism at room temperature. Recently, Flipse received another grant to continue his graphene research, with the aim to verify new theories about high-Tc superconductors.
KeesFlipse studied at Delft University of Technology and obtained his PhD there in 1985. After working at Fokker in research for a year, he spent 3 years as a postdoc at the Free University of Amsterdam. 1989, Flipse became senior lecturer at the Interdisciplinary Research Center in Surface Science of the University of Liverpool. Flipse joined Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) as Assistant Professor in the Surface Science group, becoming Associate Professor in 2001.
