Luca Palmeira Belotti
Department / Institute

RESEARCH PROFILE
Luca Palmeira Belotti is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Mechanics of Materials group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research, supervised by Hans van Dommelen and Johan Hoefnagels, focuses on experimental characterization of large-scale wire+arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) parts. The goal of the project is to obtain a novel phenomenological structure-property relationship for WAAM parts. Other research interests involve welding, tribology, and microscopy.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Luca Palmeira Belotti received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil. During his Bachelor’s, he was also a visiting student at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea from 2012 to 2013. He received his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Tribology at Luleå University of Technology, where his thesis was on the effect of hygrothermal aging on the tribological behavior of UHMWPE.
