RESEARCH PROFILE

Ing. René Unteregger, MSc. is currently a PhD candidate in the research group Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing (ITEM) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Overall, his PhD encompasses research at the interface between Innovation Management and Emerging Health Technologies. More specifically, René explores innovation activities/practices of early-stage entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs in their pursuit of establishing themselves on the larger health market. In this context, his studies focus on the problem-solving process, technology legitimation, customer value propositions, and strategic approaches to overcome innovation challenges. For this purpose, René charts new territories of health solutions in the fields of Personalized Healthcare, Mental Health Therapy, and Health Promotion.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

René holds an MSc in Business & Innovation Engineering from the University of Southern Denmark as well as a Master's Degree in Public Health at Umeå University, Sweden. His first thesis in health marketing focused on consumers' attitudes towards new health-enhancing nutrition products. For his second thesis, he received an award for the best scientific review in public health on the topic "A Scoping Review of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in Pregnancy - Associated Risks, Treatment, and the Pathological Role of the Gut Flora".
