RESEARCH PROFILE

Robert van der Drift is the managing director of the department Mathematics & Computer Science. As member of the Department Board of M&CS he is responsible for Finance, IT, HR, Communication and Facilities.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Robert van der Drift studied chemistry at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam where he obtained his MSc in 1996 with the distinction cum laude. In 2002, he obtained his PhD from Leiden University with a thesis on the sustainable ruthenium-catalyzed synthesis of the industrial solvent butanone. In that same year he moved to the Dutch science foundation NWO (the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research). He served in various functions, most recently as head of the Computer Science domain. In 2016, he was appointed as managing director of the department Mathematics & Computer Science at TU/e.
