Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences - Delft University of Technology
Research challenges associated with design, installation and monitoring of offshore wind turbines
Research challenges will be discussed such as the integral design of Offshore Wind Turbines (OWTs), choice of the foundation type, bottom-fixed foundations versus floating ones, transition joints, environmental issues associated with installation, design for ice-infected waters, soil-foundation dynamic interaction and monitoring of the integrity of the submerged parts of the OWTs.
Educated as a physicist, Andrei is currently employed by the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of TU Delft. He holds the Chair of Dynamics of Solids and Structures and serves as the head of the Offshore Engineering section at the Faculty. He is also Adjunct Professor in Arctic Marine Civil Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sound and Vibration.
