How can we make energy efficient buildings?

During the presentation the progress in energy efficiency of buildings will be discussed and the challenges for the future. What are the barriers for improving the energy performance of buildings? What drives people to invest in energy saving measures? What could be the effect of energy policy?

Marijke Menkveld is a senior consultant at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), working in the Policy Studies department, which she joined in 1995. She is an engineer and has a background in technology management studies. Her fields of work include energy savings and renewable energy in buildings. She has expertise of monitoring, long-term energy scenarios and policy evaluation. In 2013 she was involved in the Dutch national energy agreement. She advises the Dutch ministries about energy efficiency policy, but also works for energy companies in researching new energy technologies for buildings.
