Study structure

When you study Biomedical Engineering, you will gather knowledge during courses. you will apply the knowledge acquired almost immediately in the Design-Based Learning (DBL). Additionally, you will spend about one third of your study time on self-study, such as preparing courses and DBL, as well as studying for exams. At the end of the third year, you will have a so-called Bachelor's End Project.

First year

All first year courses and DCL projects will be followed together with students of the major Medical Sciences and Technology. You will follow courses like Cell & Tissue, Introduction course Organic Chemistry, Biostatistics and Linear Algebra, Biochemistry, and Programming & Genomics. During year one you can easily switch between the majors Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences and Technology.

Second and third year

You will focus more on technological subjects like mechanics, transport physics and materials, while students in Medical Sciences and Technology are specializing in biomedical subjects like imaging and immunology & infection.

The last six months of your bachelor's program, you will follow electives and you will independently work in one of the research groups, in your Bachelor's End Project.
