BlueJay

Het studententeam BlueJay werkt aan ‘s werelds eerste ‘huisdrone’. Hun visie is dat drones een deel van onze samenleving kunnen worden, of zelfs je vriend en/of assistent. De drone moet veilig, autonoom, behulpzaam en sociaal zijn. De drone kan zijn positie bepalen door middel van speciaal licht, en kan aan de hand van zijn omgeving en de taak die hij gekregen heeft volledig autonoom bepalen waar hij naartoe moet vliegen. Hij kan een handje helpen met zijn speciale grijper, die in staat is om zowel stevige als kwetsbare voorwerpen op te pakken. Interactieve softwaresystemen zorgen ervoor dat de drone zich sociaal gedraagt.

iGEM team TU Eindhoven

The international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition, which is held in Boston, is the premiere student competition in synthetic biology. Teams employ synthetic biological techniques to modify cells into machines to counter real-world problems in the fields of energy, medicine , environment or food. In addition, iGEM also involves questions “beyond the bench”, relating to ethics, sustainability, safety, environmental impact or intellectual property rights, and stimulates students to reflect on these aspects of scientific research.

SensUs, international student competition on biosensors for healthcare applications

The mission of SensUs is to stimulate the development of molecular health sensing technologies by organizing an international competition for teams of students. In a friendly competitive manner, SensUs will challenge multidisciplinary teams of students to conceive and build innovative molecular biosensing systems. The competition will give students a unique chance to gain experience in goal-oriented multidisciplinary teamwork and in innovative technological design.

Tech United

Tech United is a multidisciplinary team of (old) students, PhD’s and employees of Eindhoven University of Technology which are involved in the development of robotics. Knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer algorithms are used to solve problems.

Tech United participates in tournaments all over the world. RoboCup is an annual world championship for robots that can communicate and react on a constantly changing environment. Tech United participates with two teams. One team consists of the autonomous soccer robots and participates in the Middle Size League of RoboCup and the other team participates with autonomous service robots in the @Home league.

Service robots can assist with cleaning, lifting patients and administer medication. This makes elderly able to live at home for a longer period of time. The developments of Tech United have led to several spin-offs.
