Dies Natalis, Thursday 20 April 2017
On 20 April 2017, we will celebrate the foundation of the University (61 years ago). The Dies Natalis will be held at the Paterskerk, Tramstraat 37, in Eindhoven and will start at 15.30 hrs. Everyone is most welcome. No need to register. Guests are kindly invited to be present at the church at 15.15 hrs.
The theme of the Dies Natalis is ‘Will the university get to 2040?’. A number of speakers will be highlighting future trends from their particular perspectives.
• Rector Magnificus Bert van der Zwaan of the University of Utrecht
• Former President Patrick Aebischer of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland
• Jan Mengelers, President of the Executive Board of Eindhoven University of Technology
Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry Dr. Ilja Voets of Eindhoven University of Technology will be presenting some insight into her research.
During the ceremony rector magnificus Frank Baaijens, on behalf of TU/e, will be presenting an honorary doctorate to professor Lars Arge of Aarhus University, Denmark.

After the ceremony from 17.15 h to 18.30 h there will be a reception in Hotel Pullman Eindhoven Cocagne, Vestdijk 47, 5611 CA Eindhoven.
The Heuvel car park is a short walk away from the Paterskerk.
The TU/e celebrates Dies Natalis as an academic ceremony, where the Rector or his deputy speeches. Later on in the festivities, other professors are invited to speech as well. The ceremony also hosts a musical program while dignitaries (academic and industrial relations of the university) get a place on the front row. Each year an honorary doctorate will be conferred.
