Dare to be different!
13 November 2017 marked the start of the Website 2.0 project. The goal of this project is to develop future-proof websites for research, research groups and the TU/e community. Its motto: Dare to be different! Not only we want to develop a website that is different and innovative, we also want to get there in a way that is different for TU/e. We will be working in an agile way, using Scrum, to develop the website in ‘bits’. With every step, users and stakeholders are the primary focus. What are their needs and wishes, and how can we meet them? Our priorities will be informed by what is most valuable to do.
A group of stakeholders has been determined for both the research and community websites, consisting of representatives from departments, services and societies. They will be our sparring partners during the project, and will give us their feedback on website designs and deliverables every two weeks during a review session.
Pure Portal for research website
An important part of the new research website is the Pure Portal. In this Pure Portal, every researcher will have a profile page featuring his or her biography, portrait and research output. In November, the project team started updating all bios and photos of assistant, associate and full professors, to give them a professional, uniform representation on the new website. What about your bio and photo? Are they up to date?
The same process will soon start for the research groups (units, groups, squads, etc.). The website will import content about researchers and research groups from Pure. Through a link between Pure and the research website, the website will be able to show information like a scientist’s most important publications, and groups will be able to add research projects to their group page.
