1990   PhD (doctorate), Eindhoven University of Technology; thesis "Magnetic properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors" (pdf download) ; promotor: prof. dr. ir. W.J.M. de Jonge

1991-1995 Research fellow, Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and Arts (KNAW); 5-years project "Diluted magnetic semiconductors", on new DMS materials and carrier-induced magnetism

1996  Senior researcher in the group Physics of Nanostructures; subjects: thin-film magnetism, interlayer coupling, spin-based transport (including GMR, TMR, spin injection, superconducting spin detectors, spin filtering), imaging of magnetic nanostructures

2003  NWO VICI-grant, 5-years project "Spintronics" on novel routes for spin-based electronic devices

2006  Appointed as a full-time professor at TU/e in the field of Spintronics

2007  Inaugural lecture ("intreerede") scheduled for June 8, 2007
