Dr. Jingxin Shao
Jingxin Shao received her PhD degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2016. As an exchange student, she spent four years (2013-2016) in the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) and National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China (NCNST). Since 2017, she joined Prof. Jan van Hest’ group as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at TU/e. Her research interests include on self-assembled polymeric capsules for biomedical applications.
Biointerfacing Polymeric Multilayer Capsules: Design, Assembly, Functionalization, and Applications
Seeking safe and effective drug carriers is of great significance in nanoscience and biomedicine. Biointerfacing polyelectrolyte hollow capsules with desired properties and diverse functions that inspire a fantastic strategy for the design of biomimetic materials and biomedical applications. As encapsulated materials, capsule is not only smart delivery platform for encapsulation of guest agents, but also can integrate various active molecules for intelligent controlled release, target recognition, and simulating subcellular structure. Thus, self-assembled biomimetic polymeric capsule offers promising possibilities for developing next generation of diagnostic and treatment systems, and significantly bridge the gap between self-assembled materials and biomedical applications.
