Dr. A. (Alexey) Mashtakov
Alexey Mashtakov did his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in PSI RAS from 2009 to 2013, under the supervision of Prof. Yu.L. Sachkov. Before that he received his M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Pereslavl in 2009 (Supervisor: Yu.L. Sachkov).
Alexey's research interests are geometric control theory, optimal control, control theory on Lie Groups, nonholonomic systems, sub-Riemannian geometry and their applications in image processing, robotics and modeling of visual perception. He is also interested in numerical solutions to PDE equations on sub-Riemannian manifolds. Currently, he's focused on image analysis applications where sub-Riemannian geodesics provide natural source of curves used in the reconstruction of corrupted contours and extraction of salient curves. His interests are in particular in the analysis of medical images, such as images of human retina.
