John-Melle Bokhorst is a student of the Eindhoven University of Technology (Biomedical Engineering, specializing on Image Analysis). During his master course, he did an internship in the company Cytosmart, were he developed an algorithm to count live cells in brightfield microscope images, which is being used in laboratories. He is now a visit master student in the group of digital pathology, working on deep learning systems for the analysis of HE-stained colorectal cancer tissue samples, with the aim of obtaining prognostic data that can guide a tailor treatment per patient or per patient category. He is supervised by Francesco Ciompi and Jeroen van der Laak.
