Cees Oomens receives Experienced Investigator Award

Yesterday, Cees Oomens received the Experienced Investigator Award 2015 of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP).

The EPUAP Experienced Investigator Award is awarded for a significant, internationally-recognized contribution to pressure ulcer research in the basic sciences or clinical sciences. The prize was awarded by the President of EPUAP at the Dinner of the 18th Annual Conference, which will took place in Ghent, Belgium, on September 16 - 18, 2015. A laureate of the EPUAP Experienced Investigator Award is required to give a talk at the EPUAP Annual Conference – reviewing his/her work in the field of pressure ulcers up-to-date.

European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP)

The European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) was created in London in December 1996 to lead and support all European countries in the efforts to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. Cees Oomens

Cees Oomens is full professor in Biomechanics and Continuummechanics. He studied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology. He obtained his PhD at Twente University (1985) on a study on the mechanical behavior of skin. Currently his research is focused on damage and adaptation of soft biological tissues. A major application field is a study on pressure ulcers. The goals are to develop an objective method to identify patients at risk of developing a pressure ulcer and to develop techniques for early detection of deep tissue injury.
