Anita Mol studied Medical Imaging at the Fontys Hogeschool Eindhoven for four years. After obtaining her B.Sc. degree, she continued studying Biological Health Sciences at the University of Maastricht for another two years. She obtained her masters degree in December 2000 on a mutation analysis of the ATRX gene. January 2001 she started as a PhD student at the Eindhoven University of Technology in collaboration with the University Hospital in Zurich. She developed a novel seeding and conditioning approach to tissue engineer human heart valves that are suitable for systemic applications. She defended her thesis in March 2005. She continued as a post-doc to translate the developed techniques and obtained in-vitro results towards in-vivo application with an eye on future clinical applications. Currently she is appointed as an assistant professor in Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering.
