At the age of 26 she was granted an AMASE Master scholarship and moved to Europe. She graduated in 2010 and received her Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) and Luleå University of Technology (Sweden). Her Master thesis entitled “Modeling and Simulation of Forces in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis” was performed at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia, supervised by Damien Lacroix and Josep Planell.
Since September 2010 Maria Sol is residing in Eindhoven. She is currently working at the TU/e in the Soft Tissue Biomechanics and Engineering division as a part of the LifeValve project under the supervision of Cees Oomens and Frank Baaijens.
