Iris van de Gevel (1994) received her Bachelor and Master degree in Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2015 and 2017 respectively, both with great appreciation. In her Master she joined the Chemical Biology group of prof. dr. ir. Luc Brunsveld. For her Master’s graduation project, she investigated the interactions between 14-3-3 proteins and different regions of Nuclear Receptors to screen for drug interference possibilities. She completed her degree with a 3 month internship at AstraZeneca Mölndal. Here, she worked on the development of high throughput cellular thermal shift assays for use in several phases of drug discovery.

Currently, she is a PhD candidate under the supervision of prof. dr. ir. Luc Brunsveld. In this group, she investigates allosteric mechanisms in which Nuclear Receptors can be targeted. This could yield new possibilities for selective modulation of these receptors. In her research, she combines computational biology, protein engineering and biochemical assays.
