Embedded in the everyday life of ordinary citizens makes the living lab the ideal experimental setting for action research: citizens, entrepreneurs, governmental bodies and knowledge institutes can study, develop, test and evaluate in this way together, in co-creation, real life and pressing urban issues and solutions. Bringing the old wicked issue of the development of innovative technologies and systems in accordance with the real needs of users and society at large, putting their interests, perceptions and values central and thereby increasing the chances on public acceptance of new innovations considerably.
TU/e Smart Cities Program is currently active in four Living labs in the Eindhoven area and in several on the TU/e Campus.
