T he experimental facilities in the laboratories of the Department of the Built Environment are essential to education and research. The Department of the Built Environment therefore possesses unique in-house facilities.
In the Structures Laboratory Eindhoven, research is conducted in the fields of structural design and material properties.
The Building Physics and Systems Laboratory conducts experimental research in the field of acoustics, lighting, air quality, moisture and heat, materials, etc.In the daylightroom students can investigate the effect of sunlight on a model of their design. Skilled personnel conduct the research in the two laboratories in close collaboration with master's students, doctoral candidates and employees. It also conducts research commissioned by trade and industry.
The goal of the TU/e 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) research program is to establish concrete printing as a viable new method to manufacture concrete elements and buildings, and to fundamentally understand its processes. The research group operates and develops its own 3D Concrete Printer at the Department of the Built Environment.
On Research meets practice you will find an overview of all facilities offered by our department.
In the Docu Center, students can amass information about different construction materials. This may be in the form of brochures, as well as material samples. The document center possesses a wide range of building materials, from bricks to sheet pilings and from insulating boards to floor coverings.

A completely renewed and centralized TU/e Library was inaugurated in the MetaForum building: an inspiring place to study, meet fellow students and work together, offering a wealth of information resources.
Over 950 study seats are divided over silence zones near the book collection and places where students may study together in groups while discussing their work.
All study seats are equipped with wireless Internet. Library users may check books out of and back into the Library using a self-service lending system.
In the TU/e Library you will find an extensive and up-to-date collection of scientific information. The Library provides access to a wealth of digital information via the Internet. In the MetaForum building a large collection of printed publications (books and journals) is at your disposal. The main subject areas are technical sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, industrial and management sciences, social sciences, architectural sciences, biomedical engineering and industrial design.
