Postdoctoral and PhD positions Stimuli-responsive materials

Vacancies are available for Post-doctoral researchers and PhD students in the field of stimuli-responsive materials within the group Functional Organic Materials and Devices at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands.

Research group
The group functional materials and devices (SFD) has an extensive expertise in fundamental and applied research related to hierarchical-structured functional organic materials for applications in optical sensors, actuators, and nanoporous materials. Typically, bottom-up (self-organization) and top-down (nano- and micro-structuring) approaches are combined to generate hierarchical-structured materials. The SFD group is partner of Eindhoven Polymer Laboratories and the group members participate in various research schools and institutes.

Within our research group we are working on the many challenges involved in functional polymer materials with an emphasis on new devices. Often liquid crystalline materials are combined with analytical techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, diffraction and we work at the interface of different disciplines to achieve scientific breakthroughs and innovations. We have currently post-doctoral and PhD positions available in the field of stimuli responsive materials.

We are looking for a talented, motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a background in materials science. We’re searching for excellent candidates with proven capacities who will finish or recently finished their master or PhD. Knowledge, experience and affinity with polymer materials is highly appreciated. Analytical skills, initiative and creativity is also appreciated. Moreover, excellent communication skills in English are vital and you are prepared to work in multidisciplinary teams.

We offer
We offer a challenging job for 2 or 4 years, in a highly motivated interdisciplinary team at a dynamic and ambitious university. The TU/e is located in the smartest regions of the world and part of the European technology hotspot ‘Brainport Eindhoven’; well-known because of many high-tech industries and start-ups. A place to be for talented scientists!

The gross monthly salary are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU). Besides this the TU/e has holiday- and end-of the year allowance, an excellent package of attractive benefits for employees, a child-care facility, and a modern sports complex. Assistance for finding accommodation can be given.
