Power electronics

The Control Systems group is active in the power electronics field, and particularly in the control of high precision industrial converters used in servo-drives and imaging applications. The research in this domain aims to improve the accuracy, dynamic performance and reliability of the next-generation power converters by developing innovative control design methods, which yield high performance under safety and real-time implementation constraints.

The research in control of power converters builds on novel ideas from a variety of adjacent fields, such as, electronics, embedded systems, computational geometry, signal processing and of course control systems. These are combined in state-of-the-art design methodologies and tools which will ultimately enable regular engineers to fully and systematically utilize the potential of next-generation power conversion technologies without compromising any of the safety, efficiency or accuracy aspects.
