Tuning the plasma for efficient radical production
In plasma processing research, fundamental progress was made in the understanding and quantification of the role of pulse parameters and streamer properties in chemical processing. For this purpose the radical production process in the streamer plasma had to be analyzed. The outline of this study is reflected in the pictures.
With the results we obtained a fundamental analysis of streamer-plasma induced chemical processing. The same study also explains how the plasma energization process can be optimized with respect to chemical processing. The results are a breakthrough in the search for the best pulsed plasma. The results are translated into design criteria for efficient atmospheric plasma systems for environmental remediation.
The setup for simultaneous measurements on streamer development, power efficiency and chemical efficiency
Streamer plasma is photographed using a fast CCD-camera
