Radio communication

Current research includes wideband arrays (e.g. connected arrays) for radar and radio astronomy, RFID antennas, arrays for multi-beam satellite reception and arrays for next-generation base stations for mobile communications. A second area of interest is antennas and front-ends at mm-wave frequencies, with current focus on the 60 GHz band with extension up to 200 GHz in the upcoming years. Several concepts and technologies are being explored, including Antenna on Chip (AoC) in mainstream Silicon technologies and PCB-type patch antennas. In addition, the integration of antenna in an IC package is also being investigated.
