Request for admission

The Departmental Admission Board (FTC) of Industrial Design decides whether you can be admitted to the ID (pre)master’s program. Although the department doesn’t apply strict rules (e.g. a minimum average grade), the results do count. Special attention is paid to your final project and internship (content, result and feedback).

Aside from investigating your previous education, the FTC looks at your experiences, skills and knowledge in the 'areas of expertise': creativity and aesthetics, technology and realization, user and society, business and entrepreneurship and math, data and computing.

Request for admission

A request consists of the following components:

  • Motivation letter
  • Portfolio with examples of your work
  • Copy of diploma and transcript of records
  • List of courses plus descriptions, scope and results
  • Description graduation project, including a qualitative assessment (result/feedback)
  • CV
  • Reference letter

Please deliver these documents in English. You can send your request for admission to ID.FTC@tue.nl. Make sure your entire request does not exceed 20MB.

If you have a Dutch degree, don't forget to apply centrally through Studielink first, before sending in a request to the Departmental Admission Board.

Do you have a foreign degree? Send in your application to TU/e's International Office first. TU/e charges an application fee of € 100 to assess you request for admission. After the central assessment by the International Office, the FTC will handle your request. For questions on the central admission procedure, incl. the application fee, the English test and questions on visa and housing, please contact IO@tue.nl. While awaiting the central procedure, you can already e-mail your portfolio to: ID.FTC@tue.nl.
