Design Leadership and Entrepreneurship
The ‘Design Leadership and Entrepreneurship’ track is for future professional design managers and design entrepreneurs. This track focuses explicitly on the rapidly growing creative industries sector where creativity and innovation play a central role.
Your education centers around real-life case studies and lectures given by leading entrepreneurs active in the creative industries. You learn how to use (technologically advanced) design strategically in order to create value in the form of (socially relevant) innovations. Furthermore, you learn how design and design thinking can help generate and manage (technology-based) innovations in business. At the end of this track, you will be capable of making a real impact in societal contexts for companies, users and markets in the creative industries.
The final Master’s degree project should include a business plan or an effective crowdsourcing campaign. This document clearly defines your target market, your choice of business model and the technology that is needed. After completing the program, you can join a company active in the creative sector, such as VanBerlo or Studio Roosegaarde, set up your own design studio or initiate your own start-up. Graduates from this track have initiated innovative start-ups such as 3D Hubs and Smart Goals, and founded successful design studios such as Unit 040 and Afdeling Buitengewone Zaken.
