EUPHORIA, Efficient food Use and food waste Prevention in Households through Increased Awareness, is a project aiming at designing towards a social system for the community that allows users to log and track their everyday food related behavior and redirect these, through social influence, towards more sustainable food related practices promoting sustainable lifestyles. Euphoria detects potential food waste within a group of users and responds by providing social recipes that are likely to be accepted by the group following recommendation algorithm rules. In this concept, ingredients available from different households are combined into one recipe and suggested to a group of users with the main aim at collective food waste prevention through collaboration.

Topics of interests related to the project:

  • Behavior modelling and prediction
  • Social influence strategies for persuasion
  •  Eco-feedback applied to food waste
  • Determinants of food waste behavior (implicit and explicit)
  • Food waste-related decision-making
  • Constraint satisfaction and planning
  • Recipe recommendation systems
  • Social media and persuasive mobile technology
