Embedded systems: you will find these in dozens of products that we use every day, such as television sets and copiers. The combination of computer science (software) and electrical engineering (hardware) in these types of equipment requires an integrated approach towards the design process. And that in turn requires a new type of engineer who has a knowledge of both software and hardware.
Content of the Master's degree program in Embedded Systems
The emphasis of the Master's degree program in Embedded Systems lies on the design of efficient and reliable systems. In order to be able to construct reliable protocols for the behavior of complex software systems, you need to have knowledge of algorithms, performance, hardware and design and documentation methods. These subjects are all covered during the Master's program. You also need an understanding of the variability and maintainability of these protocols. These aspects are covered in the compulsory element of the Master's program.
The Master's program in Embedded Systems is a joint program of the 4TU Federation: a collaboration between the 4 universities of technology in the Netherlands.
Education Master's in Science Education and Communication
In addition to taking your Master's in the computer science field, it is also possible to take the Education Master's in Science Education and Communication (SEC) at the same time. With this degree under your belt, you are qualified to teach computer science in upper pre-university education.
