Fuel testing

Historically, engines have been designed to run on commercially available fuels. Ours is the opposite approach, whereby we assume the engine to be the constant in the equation and we design optimal fuel cocktails to resolve the issue at hand. The challenges in question could be curbing soot emissions (CyclOx, Figure 1)

and preventing knock (Aurora designer fuels, Figure 2)

in diesel and gasoline engines, respectively. Once we have determined which molecules can adequately address the problem, we then go on to develop production routes from sustainable feedstocks (CyclOx from lignin, Figure 3).
