Particle separation

Separation of particles or droplets from a flow is a field with a large number of applications in both industry and the environment. Important applications are cleaning of exhaust gas, sequestration of CO2 and removal of oil droplets from a gas flow. Our group has a large expertise in numerical simulation of particle-laden turbulent flow, which makes it possible to predict or to improve the separation efficiency of existing separation equipment. Also, experimental techniques are employed to study particle-laden turbulent flows, for example by means of 3D particle tracking velocimetry and laser Doppler anemometry.
