Hans van Duijn (Rotterdam, 1950) has been Rector Magnificus of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) since 2005. He was appointed as Professor of Applied Analysis in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the university in 2000. Before that he worked at CWI, the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam, as part-time professor at Delft University of Technology and affiliate professor at Leiden University. His specialized field is mathematical research into differential equations. He received the Leermeester Prize from Delft University of Technology in 1996, and the Max Planck Award from the German government in 1998. Hans van Duijn studied Applied Physics at TU/e, and gained his PhD in Mathematics at Leiden University.
