Gerrit W.M. Peters is full professor in theoretical and applied rheology. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology and received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Maastricht in 1987. His current research is focused on rheology and polymer processing (constitutive modelling, mixing, reactive processing, film blowing and injection moulding of semi-crystalline polymers, electrospinning). This includes also the development of dedicated experimental set-ups as, for example, a dilatometer that allows for high cooling rates and shearing the sample. He also participates in the research of biomechanics where he is involved in the development and testing of heart valves prosthesis, tissue engineered heart valves and the rheology of different biological tissues such as brain tissue, thrombus, skin and fat.
