TU/e Library and Information Expertise Center

60th anniversary
The year 2016 in which TU/e celebrated the 60th anniversary of its foundation is almost at its end. A less well-known event in the early phase of the history of this institution is the appointment on 1 December 1956 of the first university librarian. This means that this date may be considered the day of establishment of the present-day university library and of the Information Expertise Center (IEC).

A small exhibition on floor 0 of the library shows some selected images of the library at its various locations through the years, and of some rare and valuable books, journals and other items from its collection.

Academic heritage of TU/e
The IEC fufills a coordinating role in gaining a picture of, and preserving the academic heritage of TU/e. This exhibition also displays some objects from the collections of vintage instruments from various departments and services within the university. On display too are examples of early photographic records that illustrate the earliest episode of the history of TU/e.
