New deal Springer and Taylor & Francis journals
Earlier this year the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) reached an agreement about subscription to academic journals with Springer Nature and Taylor & Francis. In recent months, the details of the contract have been worked out.
Agreements with academic publishers are made on behalf of all Dutch universities. The universities only want to renew the subscription agreements on the condition that the publishers will make all articles published by corresponding authors of the universities available in open access.
The agreement with Springer covers 2018-2021 and allows corresponding authors from Dutch universities to publish a total of 2080 open access articles per year without additional costs; the agreement with Taylor & Francis has a term of three years, ending in 2020 and allowing corresponding authors from Dutch universities to publish a total of 1448, 1499 and 1551 open access articles in the consecutive years without additional costs.
More information on these and other agreements can be found on the Open Access coach.
