Graduates with a degree from Eindhoven University of Technology have excellent prospects of a job if the Global University Employability Ranking 2017 is anything to go by, Times Higher Education (THE), the ranking specialist for universities, has announced. It is striking that TU/e is 4th in terms of the 'digital skills' of its students. Eindhoven is ranked 84th in the world when it comes to the employability of its students. The digital skills of Eindhoven graduates are highly appreciated according to the inquiry. The top three in this field are Technion Israel Institute of Technology, followed by University College London and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. More than 15% of those asked from business and industry referred to Eindhoven alumni as the best candidates where skills in tackling the digital revolution are required.
The basis of the THE ranking is a study by the French Emerging agency that investigated which countries and universities produce the best candidates for the current job market. The Paris-based HR consultancy for the higher educated undertook a survey among 6,000 recruiters and headhunters. In addition, Emerging ran the rule over 22 countries and 6,000 universities. Respondents were asked about the specific qualities they wanted graduates to have and which countries and universities prepared their students best for employability. Furthermore, they looked at which type of employee was in scarce supply and what specific characteristics a university had to have to be an attractive proposition: reputation, alignment with the job market, quality of the academic teaching staff, the digital grounding of the students, interdisciplinarity, research facilities and international orientation.
