Data Science & Engineering

EuroTech COFUND programme

Estimates are that 90 percent of the data in the world today has been created in the past two years alone and the rate is only increasing. The EU estimates the size of its 'data economy' in 2020 will be over 600 bln Euro, more than double the size of 2016. Continuously, new technologies and businesses are emerging to organize and make sense of this avalanche of data. This requires new scientific breakthroughs and the education of many talented people.

The TU/e has identified a set of twelve core competences relevant to data science: statistics, algorithms, datamining machine learning, process mining, predictive analytics, databases, distributed systems, visualization and visual analytics, business models and marketing, behavioral/social science, privacy/security/law and ethics. The Data Science Centre Eindhoven (DSC/e) has brought scientists from over 30 research groups from different TU/e departments together, combining both scientific and technological depth with multi-disciplinary width.
