Trainees 2019

George Azis received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece in 2018. During his five-year studies he took interest in subjects that are heavy on mathematics such as Information Theory,  Probability Theory and Statistics, and Computer Graphics. His diploma Thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a system that detects and categorizes traffic lights. After his graduation, George worked as a software developer for Intracom-Telecom for a year. In his free time George enjoys snowboarding, reading, and weightlifting.

Samsom T. Beyene received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Mekelle University, Ethiopia in 2015. After graduation he worked as an assistant lecturer in Mekelle University, Ethiopia for two years. In 2019 Samsom received his Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering-Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from Politecnico Di Milano, Italy. During his master’s program, he had an internship and master’s thesis project at Vidiemme Consulting in Milan, Italy. His master’s thesis was titled “Emotion Recognition from Video using Deep Learning and Stacking”. He implemented a working prototype of a recognition system that classifies a given human emotion expression to one of the seven common human emotion categories. He is interested in Software Architecture, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

Jorge Cordero Cruz received his Master of Data Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology in May 2019. He worked on a method to analyze micro-RNA sequences using convolutional neural networks during his master’s thesis. After graduation he worked as a 
full-stack developer for a public hospital in Mexico. He believes that technology should adapt to people as much as possible. Nowadays, his interests are software development, machine learning, storytelling, and dancing.

Nathan Zion Dpenha graduated with a Bachelor in Information Technology from the University of Mumbai in 2017. Later he received a Master’s degree in Computer Applications, specializing in Software Development, from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in 2019. Nathan also worked in a research lab at Ritsumeikan University, Japan for a brief time during his master’s course and was sponsored by the Japanese government. Simultaneously, during his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, he worked as a freelancer and was also associated with multiple startups, directing the use of technology and managing all IT requirements to improve their processes. One of these many startups was Employeze.nl, where he lead and managed the technological development of the startup. After his master’s study, he stepped into the corporate world working in Software Development, Process Automation, and Data Privacy and Protection for a consulting firm based out of Mumbai, India. He is interested in Software Architecture & Design, Project Management, and Artificial Intelligence.

Han Gao received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology from Zhejiang University City College, China in 2014 and Master's diploma in Information System and Technology ITMO University, Russia in 2017. During his master study, he worked as a software intern on web back-end development with Java (J2EE) in a Russian IT company. After graduation he worked for around two years as a Java developer on web application related to IaaS management and automation systems at Dell EMC CCOE in Shanghai, China, where he filled 3+ US patents and 2+ China patents. He is interested in software architecture and wants to become a software architect.

Juan van der Heijden received his Bachelor’s degree in Software Science from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2017. After his graduation he started a Master program in Computer Science and Engineering on Eindhoven University of Technology which was finished in 2019. His master’s thesis “Defining a conversion layer between SysML models and Unity”, involved creating a method to transform model data to a new environment, while also creating a 3D-model prototype. During his bachelor and master programs he worked as a high school teacher in Informatics. His main interests are Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Software Design.

Jobaer Islam Khan received his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology with a Software Engineering major from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2012 and Master's degree in Software Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2014. He did his master's thesis entitled "An Attribute Selection Process for Software Defect Prediction”, proposes a technique for selecting best set of attributes to improve the accuracy of the software defect prediction. Jobaer has worked as a software engineer for startup and Fortune 500 companies e.g. IQVIA during the last 5 years. He is interested in Project Management, Software Architecture & System Design, and Artificial Intelligence.

Hossein Mahdian received his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Payam Noor University, Iran (2011) and Master's degree in Information Technology Engineering from Mazandaran University of Science and Technology, Iran (2014). On his master’s thesis Hossein worked on a classification problem and proposed a machine learning algorithm for disease detection. After graduation Hossein started his professional career by working as a software developer in an enterprise project. Then, he worked as software engineer in financial software companies in banking industry and capital market. His interests include software architecture, design and machine learning. After graduating PDEng, Hossein Mahdian wants to participate in architecture, design and development of software based systems.

Parima Mirshafiei received her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Shariaty University of Technology, Iran in December 2012. In 2015 she graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Alzahra University of Tehran, Iran. Meanwhile she worked as a software analyst in a GIS-based company for 5 years (2013-2018). She wrote two papers on the Geospatial Information System-Based modeling approach for leakage management and predicting short-term traffic flow using machine learning. Her interests are Geoinformatics and Software Architecture.

Christopher O'Hara received his Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology & Society from the California Polytechnic University (2015) with an emphasis on robotics and human-technology interaction. From 2010 until 2017 he was a Senior Research Scientist for an international MEMS company. In 2017 he was selected as a pilot student for the EIT Digital Blended Masters Dual Degree Programme leading to an MSc in Embedded Systems from Eindhoven University of Technology and ICT Innovation from Technischen Universität Berlin.. Simultaneously he followed an MSc in Mechatronics from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The theme throughout his graduate studies has been autonomous robotics and planetary exploration. His thesis "Optimizing Agent Behavior and Minimizing User Cognitive Load for Mixed Human-Robot Teams" utilized a ROS/Unity implementation for voice-controlled UAVs in safety-critical systems. The project is being extended to physical drones for the German Special Forces (SEK). Since 2017 he has also been a technical mentor and project evaluator for Udacity's School of Autonomous Systems and School of AI Nanodegree programs.

Tuvshinkhuu Purevsuren received her Bachelor’s degree in Information technology from the Sinhgad College of Engineering (SCOE) affiliated with the Pune University, India. She then worked for a year at a start-up company in Mongolia. Following that she pursued her Master’s degree in Information Security from Inha University, Korea.  Her master’s thesis entitled “Matchmaker: Fuzzy vault scheme for weighted preference” ensuring the flexible use of the fuzzy vault scheme, three distribution functions, which formalizes the relation between user’s weight of preferences and system implementation. She has a passion in software design and project management.

Yusril Maulidan Raji earned his Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems at Telkom University, Indonesia. During his study period he was also active in the Programming and Database laboratory for 2.5 years as a practicum assistant, research assistant, teaching assistant, and ultimately trusted as the head of the laboratory. In the last year of his study at Telkom University Yusril also got an opportunity to join the Excellent International Student Entering Technical Education (EXISTENTE) program and obtained a bachelor’s degree in ICT Software at the Fontys University of Applied Science, The Netherlands. After he graduated he worked in Simple-Simon, Eindhoven, The Netherlands as a Software Engineer for almost 4 years. Yusril has interests in Software Architecture, System Architecture, and Project Management.

Luis Roma Barge received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 2018. In 2019 he graduated with a Master in High Performance Computing from the University of Santiago de Compostela. His master’s thesis “Classification algorithm of LiDAR points based on scanlines in GPUs” involving porting a LiDAR ground point classification algorithm into CUDA language. During his master’s studies and afterwards he collaborated the Computer Architecture group as a researcher at CiTIUS. His work was related LiDAR point clouds and efficient algorithms.

 

Vladimir Romashov received his Engineering degree in Information Security from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University in 2019. His final thesis “Methods of choosing information security tools based on the theory of cooperative games” involved creating an application using Shapley Value approximation algorithms for calculating optimal sets of tools based on characteristics. During his studies and afterwards, he did an academic internship in RWTH Aachen Germany, he worked in invest bank Alfa Bank and then, in energy trader Inter RAO as a software engineer. He is interested in topics related to software architecture, data mining and application development.

 

Niels Rood received both his bachelor degree in Software Science (2016) and his master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (2019) at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands). During his master’s he spend one year at student team Blue Jay Eindhoven (2017) working on an application of drones to support life guards at indoor swimming pools. For his master’s thesis (Functional Safety Analysis and Safety Pattern Application on i-CAVE) he designed a safety analysis and improvement method for the software architectures of cooperative vehicle systems based on the ISO 26262 standard. His interests are in Embedded Software and Software Architecture.

Raha Sadeghi received her bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Alzahra University, Iran in 2010. As she found herself drawn by this field she started her Master's degree in the same field with a great focus on Distributed Systems. As her Master thesis she proposed a Trust model for service selection in a service-oriented environment (2013). After her graduation she decided to gain some first-hand experiences from real industry. So she started her first career as a software developer at one of the well-known companies in Iran. During her 5-year work experience she was mainly responsible for the analysis, design, and development of the company’s applications. Meanwhile she started learning and broadening her knowledge in the field of Data Science. Her main interests are System Architect and Design, as well as Data Science.

Akram Shokri received her Bachelor degree in Software Engineering from University of Tehran in 2007 and her Master degree in Artificial Intelligence from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2010. She has work experience of 13 years in different companies and projects and with different roles ranging from senior developer to project manager and technical lead. Her main interests are Project Management, Technical Management and Software Engineering.

Tom Vrancken received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. Following that he received his Master of Science degree in Information Security Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology. His master thesis project was carried out at ARPA2.net where he graduated on the integration of Kerberos and TLS. Subsequently, he received another Master of Science degree in Science Education & Communication, also from Eindhoven University of Technology. Tom is currently still active as a security engineer at ARPA2.net. Also he worked at ThermoSmart B.V. as a software architect and engineer where he worked on IoT applications. His interests are in cyber security, software architecture and software validation & verification techniques.
