Certificate programs

Construction Technology and Building Design & Technology

The Department of the Built Environment offers two certificate programs: 'Construction Technology' and 'Building Design & Technology'. These certificates are supplementary to the regular master program CME and are meant for students who follow the master program CME at our Department. CME-students need the approval of the Examination Committee to add the courses of the certificate programs to their study package.

The certificate program ‘Construction Technology’ aims at obtaining knowledge and research skills in the field of Construction Technology: the construction of a building.  The emphasis lies on independent designing and developing a production process for the construction of a building by using materials, equipment and labor in the most optimal way.  The certificate program ‘Building Design & Technology’ aims at design – and research skills in the field of the Building Technology. The certificate program emphasizes the relation between the design of the Building and its technical elaboration.

Both certificate programs have an extent of 15 ECTS, 5 ECTS will come on the top of the regular master program. The extent of the subjects that can be used in the elective course space in the regular master program is 10 ECTS. A project of 5 ECTS will be part of the program.

Technology Entrepeneurship

The certificate Technology Entrepreneurship (CTE) is for Master's students who are interested in business. The program offers you the opportunity to improve your entrepreneurial skills. It is open to all Master's students, and is issued by the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences and the TU/e Innovation Lab.

The certificate program consists of three parts. The first part covers elective subjects related to the theme of entrepreneurship. They are taught by the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences. The second part of the program covers entrepreneurial skills.

Developing innovative ideas

The third part of the program consists of the concluding project or business plan. The basis of the project is an innovative idea that has been developed at the TU/e or proposed by an industrial partner. Students will usually be required to develop the idea further along both technological as well as business lines. The knowledge you will need is frequently not available from one single source.

The CTE program is linked to the Brabant Center of Entrepreneurship (BCE), which is a collaborative enterprise of the Universities of Eindhoven and Tilburg. The purpose of the Center is to promote entrepreneurial education within both universities.
