DisruptorAbstract:
Solving global challenges like the energy transition, personalised medicine, climate prediction, and food & water shortage requires working with a multitude of large-scale computing infrastructures & associated applications. In the future, we'll see a need for extraordinary simulation & data processing capability within the limited energy budget. The Future Computing & Networking program from the SURF innovation lab seeks to explore & assess the impact of emerging computing & networking technologies on the future of scientific research. We are considering novel computing paradigms such as Quantum, Neuromorphic & specialised computing chips. We are engaged in national & international consortiums to understand & engineer hybrid computing workflows, e.g. in high-energy physics, molecular sciences & machine learning. Together with the community, we build experimental prototypes, use cases & applications. In this session, Sagar Dolas will introduce the future of computing for scientific research.
