Date
Thursday June 16, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM

Dear WISE member,
With great pleasure we would like to invite you to join our monthly WISE Lunchtime talk which will take place on 16 June 2022.

About the session: in this (online) lunchtime session, Adriana Creatore will reflect on her academic career, from the time she joined TU/e as postdoctoral researcher up to the present. She will also share her thoughts on how she has experienced TU/e changing through the years, the impact of living abroad and how her interaction with several generations of students developed throughout the years. There will be plenty of room for interactions and discussion with the speaker during and at the end of the session.
How to attend: Please register in advance for this interesting lunch session by sending an email to:
Wise-network@tue.nl
After registration, you will receive a link via Teams to participate in this online meeting.

Bio: Adriana Creatore is an Italian plasma chemist and material scientist. She is professor at the Applied Physics department of TU/e and principal scientist at the Eindhoven Institute for Renewable Energy Systems (EIRES). Her research focuses on the design of interfaces which are key to selective transport of charges in next generation energy devices. She received several prestigious grants and awards, among which a Marie Curie individual fellowship (2001), a VENI (2003) and two Aspasia grants (2012 and 2018), the Society of Vacuum Coaters Mentor Award (2015), the American Vacuum Society Fellowship (2017) and the Athena Award for major scientific achievements and impact on diversity and inclusion in the working environment (2021). Adriana regularly holds classes in primary and secondary education to promote the interest of children (and, especially, girls) in technical sciences. Next to her research and educational activities, Adriana serves several committees at TU/e, among which the cum-laude PhD committee and the interdepartmental committee. Her service extends to an international level: she has been the first non-US based scientific program chair for the American Vacuum Society Symposium (Columbus, OH) in 2019. In that occasion, Adriana also organized a panel discussion on “How to lead by inspiration” and coordinated the conference attendance of several scientists from the “Scholars-at-risk” and “Scholar Rescue Fund” organizations, both events unique to the history of the AVS.
