Challenges in Software Architecting

Prof.dr. Michel R.V. Chaudron was appointed full-time professor of Software Engineering at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) on July 1, 2020. He will deliver his inaugural lecture, entitled ‘Challenges in Software Architecting’ on March 24, 2023.

About the lecture
Software has become essential to society. The creation of software is very challenging in many ways. The field of Software Engineering studies techniques, tools, processes and their use by people in creating and maintaining software. Many of the challenges in creating software are due to the increasing size and complexity of software. Software architecting is a collection of practices aimed at combatting the complexity of software. Chaudron’s research centers around the design, modeling, analysis and use of software architectures. He has proposed scalable techniques for analyzing system properties based on architectural models. Also, he has performed many empirical studies into factors that affect the effectiveness of software architecting in industrial settings. In this lecture, Chaudron will explain the need for software architecture, the challenges that arise in effectively applying software architecting, and the challenges in researching software architecture.

In the event you cannot attend the lecture, you can follow it via livestream, or watch the recording afterwards.

After March 24, 2023, the text of the lecture will be available online.
