Data Science Center Eindhoven, together with IMS and IEC, is organizing a series of monthly RDM lectures during lunchtime. Internal and external experts will provide the talks and video recordings will be shared by default. We organize these this series with the goal to increase awareness, share tips & best practices, learn from each other, make use of existing support and improve this where needed. This series is aimed at scientific + support staff, but open to all. Attendance if free of charge, however registration is required.
RDM lecture #6, by Carlos Teijeiro Barjas, is organized on Thursday 29 August --- doors open at 12:00 ---.

Title
RDM and HPC support for research at SURFsara
Abstract
SURF is the reference provider for ICT services to support researchers in the Netherlands, and in particular SURFsara hosts different high performance computing facilities that are supported by a significant number of sysadmins and advisors. These facilities are accessible through different channels, and even SURFsara acts like an entrance point to access other different supercomputing facilities in the European Union. This presentation gives an overview of what SURFsara can do to provide all the computational support that a researcher may need and the funding models that allow access to it.
Short bio
Carlos Teijeiro Barjas received his BSc (2006), MSc (2008) and PhD (2013) degrees in Computer Science from the University of A Coruña (Spain). He worked as postdoctoral research assistant in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) at the Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany), in close collaboration with the Jülich Supercomputing Centre. Currently he is working as cluster computing advisor and coordinator for training activities at SURFsara, the Dutch national supercomputing center in Amsterdam.
